The Road to Chicago Round-up
We even made it into actual Chicago this time . . .
| The house I grew up in on S. Knox, halfway down the block from Ford City |
| The house my Dad AND Grandpa grew up in on S. Karlov |
My third trip to Chicago in about a year, and I crammed in as much as we could cram in four days. The only true limit to how many places I could try was simply that, even I, can only eat so much nowadays. Oh to be young and a bottomless pit again . . .
Posts on NINE restaurants (and one arcade), but believe it or not that wasn't every place. Not included was Angelo's Ristorante in Elmhurst where my baby cousin had a baby shower, nor the family favorite Aurelio's in Addison, from whence I picked up a couple pizzas to bring back to the hotel pool
We definitely got our grub on, and I can't wait to hit the town again next summer if not sooner!
So, check out the posts if you haven't already . . .
I'll part with just a few more random pics . . .
Ah, good ol' Huck Finn Donuts. Really should have pulled over on Pulaski and grabbed a couple for old times sake. Back in the day, my friends Mikey and Brian and I would scrape together 28¢ to buy a donut to split. Usually powdered white with lemon filling on top if not a cream filled chocolate frosted Long John
Katy's Dumplings in Westmont. Just didn't fit them in this trip. We love this place. If you get the chance, don't pass on their Stir Fried Eggplant w/ Garlic Sauce
Downtown Elmhurst, all blinged out at night. A metric shit-ton of money moved into Elmhurst about maybe twenty years ago? Drive around, look at the giant McMansions shoehorned into lots next to regular suburban Chicago houses. Or the sprawling and over-the-top Berens Park where they spared no expense
