Big G's Pub & Grub - Beardsley, MN
The best hashbrowns I've had in a long time . . . waaaaaaaay out in western Minnesota . . .
The Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, I went on a little meander up and down Lake Traverse (the South Dakota side is much more scenic). I drove through Browns Valley where a buddy from work's mom was from, and found myself in Beardsley. Where? Exactly. It's a town of about 200 people in the Adam's Apple bump of the Minnesota/Dakota Border
It maybe wasn't the most promising location for a late lunch, but seeing as I'm trying out little local places out in the boonies, I gave it a shot. And you know what? Thumbs up
I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger. Burger was solid, and cooked a nice medium rare as requested. Excellent thick slabs of bacon. Nice toast on the bun. The star of the show though were the crispy hashbrowns. They look cooked on a giant sheet pan, and they were fantastic.
Inside won't win any awards, but it does it's job. They could tone the blaring lights down though, especially at the bar. The bartender at the time . . . I wouldn't call her friendly. But one of the owner's I think was offering up homemade cookies
So yeah, if I ever happen to be out that'a'ways again, I'd stop in for sure and get a double order of hashbrowns!
