The Drive In Restaurant - Taylors Falls, MN
A cute little joint on the steeper side of fast food. Bring cash to avoid the outrageous 4.9% CC Usage Fee . . .
It's a bit of an operation, and I bet a summer gold mine. Got your drive in slots, plenty of covered outdoor table seating, an attached mini-golf course. Waitresses zipping around in constant movement keeping up with a busy early Saturday eveningThey serve the basic of basic diner fast food. We didn't run across any surprises, other than a $45 tab for a dad and a kiddo. And that was BEFORE they would have tacked on an extra 4.9% CC Usage Fee if I hadn't brought cash. 4.9? That's the largest credit card fee I've run across by far
Usually I don't bother posting receipts, and if I do I'd do so at the end, but . . . 4.9%!?!
The kid had the Cheeseburger Basket; I had their Patty Melt and added Jalapenos. Both baskets came with a pickle spear and small portion of Sysco crinkle fries. Both frankly felt overpriced at $12 and $15 for fast food out in the St. Croix Valley. I mean, I know it's a bit of a haul for Sysco to get out to the sticks, but c'mon
Being on summer holiday, fresh from the waterpark, we ordered desserts to go along with the kid's lemonade. A small root beer float (they DO have a giant rotating root beer mug out front), and a chocolate malt complete with whipped cream and a cherry on top
There's a sincerely pleasant mini-golf area, including a little stream, with a sadly Plain Jane boring looking course. Makes for a nice backdrop to dine to, though
Oh well. Not exactly a ringing endorsement anywhere ab0ve, is there? Can't say there was much at The Drive In that would motivate me to come back vs trying other joints in the area,
