Three Jewels Pottery - Ely, MN

An unexpected and welcome pottery surprise in Ely . . .

A charming little pollinator garden oasis on the main drag that doesn’t feel on the main drag. Three Jewels Pottery would fit right in on Grand Ave in St. Paul.  Inside presents art gallery air (which in a way it is) with sparsely displayed pottery amid wood floors, sporadic plants, and echoes.  I wouldn't go so far as to call it austere . . . maybe more of a Japanese Zen and simplicity
At first glance the style and colors weren’t of much interest to me, but a bit more attention and perusing led to a couple of treasures.  I appreciated them offering plenty of “smaller” less expensive items to pick up as souvenirs.

These two spoon rests came to under $30 for the pair. They're a rich dark green with nuance and depth, and the trees almost seem to blaze . . . the pic above really doesn't do them justice. Not easy to capture, and I say that because the Instagram and dotcom of Three Jewels doesn't truly do their work justice either

Anyways, if you're up in Ely, be sure to check them out. I chatted with one of the owners a bit . . . be sure to recommend she add fairies, mermaids, and unicorns to their repertoire so I can buy a gift for my daughter next time I'm up there ;)
