Wild Mountain Water Park - Taylors Falls, MN
After the first hour at Wild Mountain I was saying, "I'm never going to leave!" Then there was LOTS of walking around, and very little shade on a hot humid June day. Especially the haul over to the lazy river. The place was designed as ski resort, and tacked on a water park, so to go from the go-carts at the north end to the lazy river at the south is at least a few football fields. I can't emphasize enough the derth of shade if you're not sitting under one of the picnic tents
You can check out the "attractions" here. We arrived after 2pm on a June Saturday that didn't seem too busy, so not much waiting in line. I'm not going to write a bunch up, but the kiddo had a good time, and knowing what we know now, we'd definitely go back. Here's some tips . . .
- We saved about 20% by buying our Superday tickets on Groupon. There was some snafu, but I called Wild Mountain and one of the kids answered and sorted things out easily enough
- Pack food and beverages. They had a bunch of covered picnic tables for use, and you can go back to your car at will. The smartest person there brought a portable grill. There's a huge parking lot, so you could easily set up your own little camp by your car
- Our wrist band was good all day, so you could go early, boogie out for a while, pop down to Taylors Falls for a bite, maybe take a nap, then come back in the afternoon
- You WILL need to have shoes or sandals to ride the sleds and go-carts
- Maybe pick up a reasonably priced t-shirt on your way out. Our kiddo wears her neon pink Wild Mountain shirt all the time
