The Local Blend - St. Joseph, MN

On the way out to a farm in western MN, searching to find something non-chain, I found The Local Blend for a take-out road trip lunch. New to us, but we’re adding it to the hit list of locally owned places on the route between the TC’s and Alexandria. Cute little place that would be at home in MacGroveland. Sandwiches, personal pizzas, small entrees, salads, soup, dessert case. Oh, and coffee and tea and whatnot. A nice find

Mushroom & Swiss Wild Rice Paddy.  It’s not a vegan joint, but the only meat options seemed to be turkey and salmon.  I was craving a burger, and I’ve had my share of veggie burgers, so ran with their Mushroom & Swiss Wild Rice Paddy.  It was easily the thickest, richest, juiciest, best texture meat feeling non-meat burger I’ve ever had.  Biting into it FELT like a burger.  And the taste was great.  But it is VERY VERY mushroom forward.  Like for the next few hours you’ll be tasting mushrooms.  The buttery toasted bun was a bonus.  I look forward to having it again
