Carlson's Pasty and Sausage Kitchen - Biwabik, MN

 Proper pasties up in the north woods . .  

On the way back from Ely to the Twin Cities, we stopped in Biwabik to pick up some frozen pasties for home, and grab a quick bite for the road.  This breakfast pasty was exactly what we needed after the packing/car loading scramble to leave the cabin.  It was huge and stuffed with sausage/egg/cheese . . . basically two of them would be an entire pie  

  

We luckily arrived just in time to snag the last "Hot and Ready" pasty of the day at 11:52

There's some seating, but I'd consider the place more of a deli/butcher than a sit down restaurant.  In addition to the frozen pasties, they have a wide selection of sausage in cooler and freezer cases

The little town of Biwabik, with a population under a thousand, has it pretty damn good between Carlson's and the Biwabik Pizza Co, as do travelers lucky enough to stop in.  Bring an extra cooler and stock up.  While you're at it, if you have room, pop down the street for frozen pizzas

UPDATED:

A few weeks later we baked up a Sausage Breakfast and a Ground Meat.  I'd recommend tenting them under foil for most of the cook time
