Cranberry Leaf Cafe in the Cranberry Country Market - Tomah, WI

What a lovely find in the middle of cranberry country . . .

Ever on the lookout for local reasonably healthy grub on road trips, we took a flyer on the Cranberry Leaf Cafe, and were full on chuffed.  The place is owned and run by Mennonites.  Polite quiet women dressed ala Little House on the Prairie.  What that means religiously who knows and who cares.  How was the food?

Hit the spot.  A dream find.  Oh, they're not reinventing the wheel . . . just doing rock solid sandwiches, wraps, and salads built to order the way you choose with quality ingredients and deli sides.  EXACTLY what we wanted

Where and how do you order?  Glad you asked . . .

Over at the deli counter is a station.  To order . . . I wish more places did this . . . you simply fill out a slip, marking all the options you'd like, and put it in the basket.  Go wander around the market, maybe do some shopping like we did, and pick up your order.  Maybe take your kid outside to burn off some energy  at the little playground

It's certainly a market, and not a full on grocery store, but it's a big'un.  Get the jist in a plethora of pics below.  A bakers dream, including a shocking amount of colored gelatins and decorating items

On our next roadtrip to Chicago, it's going to be hard to pass up stopping here to grab lunch.  Fresh, quality, reasonably healthy.  Right up our alley
